FAQs
Do you provide AC services outside of Sauk County?
Yes, but due to special licensing requirements in the City of Madison, we are limited to providing HVAC services only in specific communities in Dane County. If you live in Dane County, please call our main office and ask if we can service your address.
How do I know if my AC needs repair or replacement?
If your AC is over 10–15 years old, struggling to keep up on hot days, leaking refrigerant, or costing more to run each summer, replacement is often the smarter long-term move. Newer units with isolated issues are usually worth repairing. We give you an honest assessment either way.
What brands of AC do you install and service?
Authorized Comfortmaker dealer, We install and service most major brands including Lennox, Carrier, Trane, Bryant, Goodman, and Rheem. We help you choose the right unit based on your home’s size, ductwork, and budget.
How long does AC installation take?
A standard central AC replacement is typically completed in one day. New installations with ductwork additions or electrical upgrades can take longer. We provide a clear timeline in your written estimate.
Do you offer financing for AC installations?
Yes. Financing available (no payments and no interest if paid in full within 6 months, or 9.99% for 5 years, longer term options also available. Financing is available for qualifying AC projects through our partner. Talk to your technician during your consultation for details.
How often should my AC be serviced?
We recommend an annual tune-up in the spring before the cooling season begins. Regular maintenance keeps your system efficient, extends its life, and catches small issues before they become emergencies.
Do you handle permits for AC installation?
Yes. RHD pulls all required permits and coordinates inspections on your behalf.
What size AC do I need?
AC sizing depends on your home’s square footage, insulation, window count, ductwork, and climate zone. An undersized unit will run constantly and an oversized one will short-cycle and waste energy. Our technicians perform proper load calculations to recommend the right size for your home.
Do you offer emergency AC service?
We work hard to respond quickly during peak cooling season. Call the office to check on same-day or next-day availability.
What’s the difference between central AC and a ductless mini-split?
Central AC cools your whole home through existing ductwork from a single outdoor unit. Ductless mini-splits use one or more indoor air handlers connected to an outdoor unit, with no ductwork required, ideal for additions, finished basements, sunrooms, or homes without ducts.
Do you offer a warranty on AC work?
Yes. RHD provides a 1-year workmanship warranty on all AC installations. On Comfortmaker air conditioning units, you also get a 10-year No-Hassle Replacement Limited Warranty on covered parts. Manufacturer warranties vary by brand and model, so we walk you through the exact coverage for your equipment before installation.
